Frequently Asked Questions
Key information about using CodexZero for Bible translation
Can I import from Paratext?
Yes.
Can I use offline?
No, for offline use see the Codex app and LangQuest.
Does the AI know my language?
Probably, and if it doesn't it will learn as you translate more text. The AI adapts to your language patterns and style the more examples you provide.
Can I translate anything besides the Bible?
No, please see Codex and LangQuest if you need that kind of support. CodexZero is meant to be completely fine-tuned for Bible translation in the best possible way.
Are these models better than No Language Left Behind?
We've found that giving an LLM (large language model) relevant examples from your corpus performs on par with translation models like NLLB with added benefits like prompt adherence and cultural understanding. We also support fine-tuning LLMs which can give the best of both worlds.
Do I need to request access for CodexZero?
No, unlike some other Bible translation software, CodexZero does not require any approval process. Though we reserve the right to withhold access if needed (capacity limits etc.) for any reason, we trust you to know more about your translation project than we do!
Will CodexZero translate theologically correct high quality translations?
That is up to you! We hope you understand the cultural and linguistic nuances of the language you are translating into, if you don't then please have someone else do the translation! While we hope this software will speed you up, translation quality is up to you.
Are there any platform guidelines?
Yes, we have community guidelines focused on ethical translation practices, respecting the work of others, and our approach to Bible translation. View our full philosophy and guidelines →
